Quay Arts provides a central creative hub for artists and communities on the Isle of Wight, working with the Island’s diverse communities to raise and enable creative ambitions.
Quay Arts is the Island’s main multi-purpose arts venue and professional public gallery. We operate from two historic listed buildings in the heart of the county town of Newport, by the River Medina. Opening seven days a week and hosting over 90,000 visits a year, we programme, produce and curate theatre, music, participatory and visual arts, on and off-site. We also provide artist and craft maker studios at our Jubilee Stores site and opportunities for professional Island artists to develop their practice and careers.
Quay Arts is anchored in Island life, both reflecting and informing its cultural output as well as providing a window onto the world of the arts. Our work reaches a broad and vast demographic from toddlers and families through to those enjoying retirement. We champion the work of Island artists, from selling their work in our Craft Shop to creating showcasing opportunities for performance such as our prestigious Kashmir Café at the Isle of Wight Festival, a space dedicated to Island musicians. We also provide a platform for artists and performers from across the UK and beyond, giving those living on or visiting the Island the chance to see high quality art in the friendly, hospitable environment at the Quay and at other Island venues.
We welcome school visits to our gallery spaces and can arrange tailor-made workshops both in school or at at Quay Arts, run by our team of Artist Educators, who are all trained in Arts Award. Through our youth provison offer, Second WAVE, we provide workshops for children and young people age 11 to 19, free to referrals. Contact Jeni Saunders email@example.com for more details. We actively seek project funding to enable schools to enjoy free workshops whenever possible, in response to our exhibition programme.
Quay Arts is a registered charity (number 272007), operating under the name Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts.
